Sponsored walk in aid of Mental heath charities

Leigh and Luke Walk The Great Wall of China

Two of our industry colleagues, freelancer Leigh Porter and White Light employee Luke Hance, are going on a 10 day trip to walk part of the Great Wall of China in October. This is in order to raise funds for the Mental Health Foundation.

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem in a year. We are both people who battle with their own mental health. Mental health issues can take the form of stress, anxiety or depression or, most commonly, a combination of all three. This can present itself outwardly in many ways, and it can also make you feel a variety of emotions. One common way it can affect people is to make you feel very lonely and isolated BUT, at the same time, the last thing you want to do is see anybody. You manage to tie yourself in knots with your own internal contradictions.

The best way to unravel these knots is to talk to someone. However, we can all do something to help. Let’s stop thinking of mental health in a different way to the way we think of physical health. It’s all health. Let's start talking about it.

While there are excellent therapists out there, there are also several organisations that provide support and advice for people who are having a bit of a rough time. This is why we’ve chosen to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation so that those who need it can get some help.

In order to take part, each of them needs to raise £3,150. So they have set themselves a combined target of £7000. Any donation no matter how big or small is most gratefully received.

Please consider supporting them on their trek!
