Jai Morjaria

Growing up in North London, Jai's technical theatre training began at Uxbridge College in West London, where he studied for a BTEC in Production Arts. He continued his training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) on the BA Technical Theatre and Stage Management course, specialising in Lighting Design and Stage Electrics . 

Jai's professional career began at the age of 18, whilst he was at college as a follow spot operator in London's West End. Later he decided to pursue studying at a higher level to further his career as a Lighting Designer.

Jai has freelanced as a Lighting Designer for the past 4 years and has worked with numerous directors and companies. He also works as a Production Electrician/Technician and Programmer.

Jai was the winner of the 2016 Association of Lighting Designer’s ETC Award and has been nominated for an Off West End Award for Best Lighting Designer in 2016. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) specialising in Lighting Design.

Previous lighting designs include: A Trip To The Moon (Barbican Concert Hall), Kanye The First (UK Tour), No Dogs No Indians (UK Tour), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Southwark Playhouse), Complicite Young Company (Hackney Downs Studio), Breaking Up Is Hard To do (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), Sister Act The Musical (Alban Arena), Trident Moon (Finborough Theatre), Acorn (Courtyard Theatre), Scrooge and the Seven Dwarves (Theatre 503), Out There on Fried Meat Ridge Road (White Bear Theatre/ Trafalgar Studios 2).

Upcoming Designs include: Robin Hood (Stantonbury Theatre) and the revival of Scrooge and The Seven
