White Light (WL) and the Natural History Museum have had a partnership that spans over 20 years, so we are delighted to wish one of London’s most iconic venues, a happy 139th anniversary!

Located in South Kensington, the Natural History Museum is renowned for its magnificent architecture and world-famous collections, making it a highly-sought after venue for any event. To celebrate its anniversary, we wanted to share some of our fondest memories of special events and collaborations with the Museum.

Hope the Blue Whale and Hintze Hall Reopening

Back in July 2017, we were very proud to provide full technical support for the glittering re-opening of Hintze Hall at the Natural History Museum, marking one of the museum’s largest transformations since 1881.The highly-anticipated event, which was attended by more than 1,000 guests, saw the grand unveiling of Hope, a stunning 25.2 metre real blue whale skeleton. As a long standing approved supplier to the Natural History Museum, we were called upon to provide the complete technical solutions for the occasion. Sharing an Intimate Gig for Coldplay’s Album Launch

Last November, Coldplay held an intimate one-off concert following the launch of their latest album ‘Everyday Life’. For this occasion, WL was appointed to provide all lighting solutions and power distribution, as well as manage the staging and crowd management barriers.

Thanks to our established position on the Museum’s approved suppliers list and intricate knowledge of the venue, we were considered the expert choice for a special event of this nature. Read more about it here.

Christmas Celebrations

White Light has been providing technical support for the NHM’s Christmas party run for over four years. Each year there is an increasing demand for festive celebrations in the Earth Hall, making it one of the most iconic party venues in London. You can read about NHM Christmas parties here.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards

Each year the museum hosts the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards. This event celebrates the best wildlife photographers from all over the world. Back in 2015 we provided lighting support throughout the evening. The brief was to highlight the spectacular architecture of the building and enhance the tone of prestige and recognition for this celebratory evening. *BONUS* 2020 Suppliers Evening

Finally, a bonus moment from last February, when we attended the museum’s supplier networking evening. This year the museum hosted a scavenger hunt around the building, where we learnt a great deal about their fascinating content and collections, while enjoying our very own ‘night at the museum’ experience. Team WL were very happy to come in third place – thank you…
