Valued driver hits ten years at TSL
Lead Driver at TSL, Steve Houlihan, has recently celebrated his 10 year anniversary at TSL.
“I’ve made no secret of telling people that I know I’m lucky to work here.”
Lead Driver at TSL, Steve Houlihan, has recently celebrated his 10 year anniversary at TSL.
Working as part of our valued team of dedicated drivers, Steve delivers and collects our equipment from all over the country, and at all hours of the day, with a smile on his face.
‘Sometimes when I realise I have a 05:00AM start, I do ask myself “what am I doing?”, but then I remember that I wouldn’t have been here for ten years – with 35 years of experience – if I hated it!’
Steve was with Blinding Light before the TSL merger, and has since been with us for other major milestones including the move into our huge new facility and the acquisition of GLS.
Sam Tamplin, Managing Director, has praised Steve for his dedication to TSL, saying: “Steve is a wonderful member of our team, his attitude and character are flawless. He is a trusted face with our freelancers and customers and has delivered with care thousands of times. We are so pleased to have him, and our company is better off with him. Thank you Steve for your service.”
Through his time at TSL, Steve’s hard work and kind-hearted nature hasn’t gone unnoticed by colleagues and friends. From supporting new team members as they settle in to quietly lending a hand when it’s needed most, Steve’s kindness and generosity make him a truly valued presence at TSL.
Transport Manager Phil Rees-Janes said “Steve has an enviable work ethic and holds himself to a very high standard. His support has enabled me to build a team I am extremely proud of. No matter what the situation, Steve has always adapted to the changing needs of the business, sometimes with huge demand put on him personally, yet he has always managed these situations with dignity and pride and set a great example to the rest of TSL.”
Navigating tight spaces and difficult roads is part and parcel of the job, but Steve has proved it’s no mean feat. His number one tip? Stay calm and focus.
When asked what has kept him at TSL for a decade, Steve said: “TSL does look after you, certainly Sam has. Through hardships like the pandemic, keeping on as many staff as they could through the furlough scheme – myself included – to being able to accommodate when personal issues have arisen; the people are really what makes working here enjoyable.”
Armed with his sunglasses, wit, friendly personality and his trademark shiny boots, Steve is certainly welcomed onto any site he travels to.
Thank you for 10 years, Steve!
