Richard Godin trained at Central School of Speech & Drama.

Complicite’s 'The Master & Margarita' toured to the Barbican Theatre, Germany, Austria and Spain.
DV8‘s 'Can We Talk About This?' premiered at Sydney Opera House then toured to Hong Kong, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Berlin, Leeds, Warwick, Cologne, Athens, Budapest, Lubilana, and The National Theatre.
Complicite’s, 'A Disappearing Number' toured to America, India and the West End including a Live World Wide Broadcast as Part of NT Live.
DV8 Physical Theatre’s 'To Be Straight With You' toured to Europe, America & Canada.
UK touring includes Orfeo, Ersimena, Dido & Aeneas, Jephte, Tolomeo, Tosca, Jenufa & The Little Magic Flute for English Touring Opera.
Richard has been Head of Lighting Sound & Video for The National Youth Theatre and has also designed, tutored and mentored at The Central School of Speech and Drama, Guildhall and Arts Educational Schools.

Assumption
Dee Evans’ direction did much to underscore the message and the magic of the piece. The opening sequence, with the child and the lament, which both appear again at the end, the confession with its weighty crucifix, the laundry where you could almost smell the washing, and the shrinking wall of light at the back, ingeniously suggesting the door and the distance.

Diary of A Nobody
The whole thing is stunningly put together by director Sefton and races breathlessly through two hours of set changes, manic confusion and some not inconsiderable vocal talents. With the delightfully appropriate Royal Theatre as its backdrop, this Diary is beautifully staged (Rhys Jarman), impeccably lit (Richard Godin) and meticulously choreographed (Alexandra Worrall). Without reservation, it deserves the standing ovation it receives.

As you watch this hapless city clerk, so sniggered at by younger colleagues, blink into the blinding spotlight deployed to suggest his all-powerful boss, it’s impossible not to feel stirrings of deep sympathy even as you shake with highly cathartic laughter.

A Slight Ache and The Lover
For the Colchester revival, Gari Jones (who has worked extensively with Pinter) uses the main auditorium’s thrust stage – albeit with the audience area reduced to studio theatre proportions – to give our imaginations as well as the actors room to roam. The five players make fine use of it, their performances complemented by Sara Perks’ excellent settings, Richard Godin’s subtle lighting and a marvellous soundscape by Marcus Christensen.
