CHAUVET Professional Sponsors TPi Awards 2015

London, UK — Since 2002, the TPi Awards has been at the forefront of celebrating the achievements of designers, engineers, companies and individuals who have made an impact in the live production industry. CHAUVET Professional has been a sponsor of the awards for the past three years, supporting again this year the “Live Production of the Year” category, which was won by The KT Fellowship presents Before The Dawn. For the second year running, CHAUVET Professional also sponsored a photo booth with a quirky twist.
CHAUVET Professional’s London taxi photo booth proved to be such a hit with revellers at last year’s event; the company opted to go down a similar route for the 2015 celebrations. This time, a classic VW campervan was converted into a photo booth and emblazoned with the CHAUVET Professional logo. The photo booth allowed guests to have their photo taken with industry friends and colleagues – with optional comedy props – throughout the course of the night.

The camper van turned photo booth was situated in the main after-party area of the stunning purpose-built events space, Battersea Evolution. Michael Brooksbank, Chauvet Europe’s general manager, said: “The taxi was so well received last year that it made sense to go with a similar theme. This time around, we took the opportunity to dress the larger surrounding area in this new venue with some pixel-mappable fixtures to give it an extra wow-factor and tie it in to the event theme.”

Four truss towers from TRUSST, each with two CHAUVET Professional ÉPIX Tile 2.0 LED panels and one Next NXT-1 moving head LED panel, flanked the campervan. Several COLORado Batten Quad-9 Tour fixtures provided additional wash. “The idea was to create a nice-looking set which would show off a couple of the newer products,” said Chauvet Europe’s Sam Bowden. “By running the NXT-1 units in Kling-Net and DMX mode I was able to quickly get a great effect from them by running a video map over all the products. Then, I used ShowXpress software to run a shape generator controlling the pan and tilt movement of the unit. This meant that once the units had been set up I could run all the video and the DMX control from one laptop. It was a simple but effective solution.”

The TPi Awards is regarded throughout the world as the premier networking event for the live production industry. “It’s undoubtedly one of the most significant and enjoyable events on the industry calendar so we were delighted to be involved again. We were pleased to see that the photo booth added to the fun and frivolity of the after-party,” Brooksbank said.

The event was hosted by award-winning comedian and TV presenter Russell Kane and attended by over 1,100 people from the music and live event industries.
