As Ayrton marks the half-way point of its Multi Twenty-one programme – its exciting three-year strategic vision to release 21 new, innovative fixtures by the end of 2021 – the company launched two new products and previewed another at a very successful PLASA 2019 along with its exclusive UK distributor, Ambersphere Solutions. Perseo-S and Huracan-X were the two to receive their official launch and visitors were treated to a first look at Karif-LT, due for release at LDI in November.

PERSEO-S – the Shape of Water

Shipping with immediate effect, Perseo-S is Ayrton’s first multi-function, compact, powerful, IP65-rated fixture developed for intensive outdoor use. Yet, weighing in at just over 38kg and designed for the broadest range of applications, Perseo-S is also the first-ever moving light ideal for both indoor and outdoor use - thanks to its compact size, incredible output, light weight, ease of service and beautiful lines. Amazingly, weighing just 2kg more than its non-IP65 rated equivalent, Ghibli, Perseo-S is the quickest moving light in the Ayrton range – a refreshing change from heavy, bulky and rather dim outdoor units! 

Built to withstand the elements, Perseo-S’ new minimalist design incorporates full weather-proofing features that ensure easy accessibility, including a highly effective phase-change liquid cooling system fitted with four submersible fans located outside the watertight enclosure and a new water-resistant menu navigation system. 

Feature rich from the factory (including 100% framing shutters, a wealth of effects and gobo options, a subtractive CMY colour mixing system and further colour options for an infinite palette of vivid pastels and saturated colours), Perseo-S produces 27,000lm, calibrated at 8000K, from its 500W LED source. 

Perseo-S has been designed for extreme optical efficiency delivering perfect image reproduction across its 7° to 56° zoom range, with no hotspot and significant improvement from distortion at wide angles.

HURACÁN-X – Graphadelic Power

Huracán-X is a unique profile luminaire with some exceptional features. Huracán-X not only produces a record output of 50,000lm from its 1000W LED source, but is a formidable new graphical tool possessing a wealth of features and an entirely new complex colour mixing system capable of generating 281trillion colours. 

Its many unique, patent-pending innovations include its advanced colour mixing system, a three-axis animation wheel that can be positioned anywhere in the light path, and bespoke gobo sets which can control depth of field, direction of movement, etc, with more options to come.

Advanced colour mixing system

It is the new advanced colour mixing system that really makes Huracán-X stand out in the crowd. A CMY, CTO, CTP (unique to Huracan-X), CTB subtractive system gives the user complete control over the colour palette. Designers no longer have to use different fixtures to achieve perfect pastels or optimum saturated colours. Both can now be obtained within a single fixture with Huracán-X. A triple variable colour temperature corrector allows subtle adjustment from 2700 K to 15000 K to perfectly match other light sources, and 170 colour presets, plus the incredible mixing ability, enable the matching any colour filter available. Huracan-X’s amazing colour mixing system also alleviates the challenge of colour fringing which traditionally occurs in moving lights when using pastel colours in combination with gobos or framing shutters.

Fabulous graphical capabilities

Designed to project complex graphical effects, Huracán-X boasts an amazing graphical system for the creation of incredible kaleidoscopic, graphicadelic flat and aerial effects. A 7-position wheel for interchangeable effects cassettes or gobos, fitted with 5 rotating gobos and 2 effects cassettes, can create dynamic effects by superimposing two complementary inverted images in counter rotation. A second interchangeable gobo wheel is equipped with 7 rotating gobos; a unique monochromatic multi-position (patent pending) effects wheel allows horizontal, vertical or axial scrolling for creating flame, water or radiant effects; a multi-layer CMY wheel enables the generation of multicolour, psychedelic effects.

Karif-LT 

Continuing its theme of naming its products after the winds of the world, Ayrton previewed Karif-LT, its brand new 300W LED hybrid with an incredible 3° - 45° zoom range, the narrowness of which, in an LED fixture, is unprecedented and unmatched in the industry. Karif-LT marks the first of Ayrton’s new long throw units, and will be released at the LDI show in the US before shipping in early 2020.  

The new Ayrton fixtures were presented alongside a timeline of past Ayrton innovations including the industry’s first moving LED spot and the first MagicPanel fixture, as well as current products Bora, Khamsin, Mistral and Levante. “We wanted to illustrate Ayrton’s longevity and the qualities which typify the company, and to show that Ayrton offers not only the broadest range of LED fixtures on the market, but the most advanced and optically efficient in the industry,” says Philip Norfolk of Ambersphere Solutions.
