#WeMakeEvents – Red Alert Day of Action

The events sector urgently needs government support to survive the COVID-19 crisis.

Without major immediate support from the government, the entire live events sector supply chain is at risk of collapse.

As such, #WeMakeEvents – RED ALERT is hosting a major outdoor event in London on Tuesday 11 August, calling on the government to “THROW US A LINE!”

They are now looking for individuals to join what will be a memorable and impactful day of action.  You can register your attendance here.

WHAT IS THE PLAN?

On the day of action, journalists will board a boat at Westminster Pier then head eastwards. They will sail through a series of ‘arenas’ which will feature many of the capital’s iconic landmarks, all lit up red in solidarity.

Along the route, hundreds of individuals will line up, socially distanced, on river banks and bridges. And with the help of leading production experts, the capital will be transformed in a way it’s never been seen before.

With named artists and the high-tech production our industry is famed for, this will be a powerful and memorable event to draw the attention of mainstream media and members of parliament.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

The event kicks off at 8.30pm, with arrival check in from 6:30pm. To ensure the safety of the event, registration via Eventbrite is mandatory.

Once you’ve agreed to the registration T&Cs, you can select which ‘arena’ you’d like to be part of – with a choice of the London Eye, the Royal Festival Hall, the National Theatre or the Tate Modern.

It is asked that you wear a red t-shirt throughout the event. Facemasks are also mandatory and it is recommend that you bring your own water bottle and hand sanitiser.

Download an App to turn your phone red. Instructions can be found on the registration page.

KEEPING SAFE

The event hosts have taken all the necessary precautions and worked with authorities to ensure the safe running of the event and that social distancing will be complied with.

Once the event has finished, attendees should safely disperse the arenas.

The registration system will limit the amount of people per arena and stewards will be present in each area, monitoring health and safety throughout the duration of the event.
