Ambersphere sets the Scenius for DPL Production Lighting

DPL Production Lighting has been in business since 1989 and its client list is about as broad as it gets. From schools and drama groups to music festivals and arena shows, each customer receives the same level of professional service and technical expertise. Managing director Darren Parker explains why DPL has recently chosen to invest in the newest moving light fixture from Clay Paky, the Scenius. “As a company that supplies equipment to all sorts of different events, from those looking for a single followspot or a couple of washes up to a full festival lighting rig with all possible bells and whistles on it, we have to maintain the very broadest range of stock in the warehouse. We already have a solid relationship with Clay Paky’s UK distributors, Ambersphere Solutions and have invested in Clay Paky before with great success so it seemed the obvious way to go.”

“We needed a new ‘big’ output versatile fixture to replace some of our older technology and the Scenius simply ticked all our boxes. We did a shoot-out at a local theatre, the beam width and the optical quality were more than impressive. The speed and brightness of the Scenius, not mention the effects available, takes the moving light sector to a new level. I feel this is Clay Paky at their very best – to date – they always seem to be upping their game.”

Parker has a long standing relationship with Ambersphere; DPL has made purchases from all four of the Ambersphere family of brands. For control the company has invested in MA, followspots courtesy of Robert Juliat and last year it was Magic Blades from Ayrton not to mention B-Eyes and Mythos from Clay Paky.

“We’ve always received exemplary pre-purchase and after sales service from the Ambersphere team and, though they clearly supply products from some of the premier manufacturers in the business, in such a competitive market as the moving light sector, it is the service and the people that sways our company’s purchase decisions.”

“I picked up the phone and spoke to the brilliant Lee House,” continues Parker. “His advice is always invaluable and straightforward; he understands my business and what I’m expecting from my purchase. Demos and discussion are always available, nothing is too much trouble. For the Scenius, he understood that we were looking for a fixture that would work just as well for us at smaller events as well as impressing at the big ones. Since we took delivery of them, they have worked on various theatre shows as well as the outdoor Big Day Out, proving they are as versatile and obliging flexible as Ambersphere themselves! We will definitely be back for more.”
