White Light races back to Lee Valley VeloPark for Six Day Series

The annual Six Day Cycling

event recently returned to its East London home at Lee Valley VeloPark. As an

approved supplier to the venue, White Light (WL) supplied the full service

production solutions for Six Day London, for the third consecutive year.

The Six Day Series

sees the world’s best track cyclists compete in numerous races taking place in

different countries throughout the year, with each segment running over six

days. As important as the races themselves, is the party atmosphere that is created

with a live DJ accompaniment, dramatic lighting and immersive content including

rider commentaries and VTs.

WL’s Senior Account Manager, Dominic Yates and Senior Audio Technical Project Manager, Harry McCann led the technical delivery team, with Leo

Woodcock returning as Lighting Designer for the project. Dominic comments: “For

an event of this size and scale, there were numerous layers to the production

elements. To transform the trackside arena as a party environment, we used a

vast array of over 200 moving lights and LED fixtures. The rig included Mac

Aura XBs, Clay Paky Mythos 2 units and Mac Viper Performances, as well

as Arri SkyPanel S60s, Elation Six Pars and Showline SL E Strips. Over 100

2.6MM and 4.8MM pitch LED video wall panels displayed the visual content.”

Harry adds: “Audio is a huge part

of this event. The presenters and riders were all using Shure Axient Digital,

the solution of choice to ensure robust 360 degree RF coverage across the venue,

utilising Axient’s Quadversity mode. At FOH we had a Yamaha CL5 and PA distribution

was covered by two d&b audiotechnik DS10s. Complementing the in-house d&b

PA system we deployed five ground stacks of Y & V series with YP as fills. Having

recently added Yamaha SWP switches to our inventory, we were able to streamline

the cabling infrastructure to achieve point-to-point fibre, allowing us to keep

everything digital from the source to amplifier.”
