Following Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s announcement of the government’s Job Support Scheme earlier today, our Managing Director Bryan Raven has made the following statement:

‘Whilst we welcome the government’s announcement about their Emergency Job Scheme, we have to be realistic and say this will only go so far. As a company, we still find ourselves in a similar position to thousands of others in which the projects we normally work on simply cannot go ahead due to social distancing and other restrictions. As such, with such little income, most organisations will not be able to support even part-time working.

Added to this, we are also very disappointed about the lack of support being offered to our incredible freelancers. The majority of these haven’t worked since March and have been struggling to get by ever since. It’s a difficult situation and this new announcement sadly hasn’t alleviated any fears. 

What this does mean though is that the #WeMakeEvents campaign is more important than ever. Now we know about the latest government scheme, we realise it simply won’t reach our sector and so we must continue our fight. As such, we hope you will join us and thousands of others next Wednesday 30th for our Global Day of Action’.
