Following
the launch of their latest album ‘Everyday Life’, Coldplay recently staged an
intimate, one-off concert at the Natural History Museum. Technical production
specialist White Light (WL) was appointed to provide all lighting solutions and
power distribution, as well as manage the staging and crowd management
barriers.
WL’s Account Manager, Steven
Burnham says: “There was a limited lead time on this project from the receipt
of brief. With our established position on the Museum’s approved suppliers list
and intricate knowledge of the venue, we were considered the expert choice for
a special event of this nature. We were excited
to work with promoters SJM Concerts for the first time.”
WL’s
Project Manager, Martin Strods worked closely alongside Coldplay’s Lighting
Director, Graham Feast and Lighting Designer, Sooner Routhier. A vast array of
LED moving fixtures from WL’s inventory was utilised to achieve their aesthetic
vision through the lighting elements. He comments: “We wanted to do justice to
the iconic surroundings of the Hintze Hall and heighten the intimacy of the
experience for the 850 fans in the crowd. Onsite, I led a crew of 20 who worked
seamlessly to achieve full set-up of the space within two hours.”
Andy Redhead, Head of Production
at SJM Concerts adds: “With the limited lead time in which to design and
execute this event, it was essential we work with an experienced supplier who
knew the Natural History Museum like the back of their hand. It was brilliant
working with the WL team, who provided a fantastic service and helped deliver a
very special show!”
